Assumption Iloilo Literacy Week 2023: A Celebration of Reading, Learning, and Fun!


Literacy Week is an annual event that promotes literacy and reading in schools. The event was held in Assumption Iloilo from September 18-22, 2023. Throughout the week, there were many exciting activities that promoted the love and joy of reading with learners of all ages. Learners also had the opportunity to win a few prizes!

The activities in the said event were the following:

  1. Read Aloud Throwback Videos: This activity involved students and teachers reading aloud from their favorite books and sharing them with others. It was a great way to promote reading and encourage learners to explore new books.

  2. Drop Everything and Read: This event encouraged learners to stop what they were doing and read for a set amount of time. It was a great way to promote reading and encourage learners to explore new books.

  3. Reading Bubbles: This event involved high school learners partnering with grade school learners to read together. The high school learners not only read together with the grade school learners but also listened to them read, supported them when they found some words difficult, talked about the books that they have read, and asked them questions. It was a great way to promote reading and encourage learners to explore new books.

  4. Book Character Parade: This event involved kinder and grade school learners dressing up as their favorite book characters for the parade. It was a great way to promote reading and encourage learners to explore new books.
